Just an organization that 'courts' lies
On Sept 13, the "Uyghur Tribunal" concluded its second hearing, in the United Kingdom. Don't fall for the name. This "court" is not one that enjoys any legal status. And its "hearing" is nothing more than an anti-China farce.
The "tribunal" is reportedly a UK-based non-government organization funded by the "World Uyghur Congress" that is notorious for hyping up separatism in China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
The very day it was founded, the "World Uyghur Congress" established ties with the "East Turkestan Islamic Movement", which the United Nations has marked out as a terrorist organization. Probe further and it emerges that the Congress also enjoys the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, a US government agency tasked with facilitating regime change in countries or regions that Washington dislikes.
All this goes to show that the so-called "Uyghur Tribunal" is nothing but an anti-China tool of certain Western political forces that are playing nothing but old tricks. They are known to find a group of "Xinjiang experts" who have never even been to Xinjiang, but are full of tales of "genocide" and "forced labor" there. Do these stories have any credibility? No.
Notable here is also the date of the second "hearing", just two days after the 20th anniversary of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks in the US. By fabricating such lies around this time, the anti-China forces are insulting global efforts at fighting terrorism.
Between 1990 and 2016, a wave of terrorist attacks rocked Xinjiang, disrupting the lives of the residents there who belong to various ethnic groups.
Thanks to the efforts of the Chinese government, peace and security have returned to the region. Meanwhile, Graham Perry, a British solicitor and international arbitrator based in the UK, has said there is no reliable evidence of a "genocide" having taken place there.
Lies will never cover truths. Those who are badmouthing Xinjiang have their own axe to grind against China, but it does not put a lid on their own sins, ranging from slavery to racial discrimination.
